FAXX is a social game of skill. You call the outcome of real-world events using a free allowance of conviction that refills on its own over time, and play for XP, Rating, levels, ranks and leaderboard positions. There is no stake and no prize: nothing you earn in FAXX has any monetary value, and nothing can be withdrawn, converted to money or transferred. FAXX sells nothing: there are no in-app purchases.
Account: your email address and password. Passwords are never stored in readable form, only as a secure cryptographic hash. When you choose a password, it is checked against a public database of passwords exposed in known data breaches; this check never transmits your password.
Profile: your username, your country, your date of birth (to confirm you are 18 or older), and, if you choose to add them, a full name and a profile photo.
Email preferences: whether you agreed to receive marketing emails, and when. You can say no at sign-up and change your mind later; account emails (such as sign-up and password codes) are sent either way.
In-app activity: your calls (which question, which option, how much conviction, when, and the crowd's percentage at that moment) and the calls you close early; your XP, Rating, level, rank and results; your conviction balance and when it last refilled; your answers in the Stories quiz; who you follow and who follows you; profile visits; people you block or report; your notifications; and when you accepted which version of our Terms.
Your login on your phone: to keep you signed in, your login session is stored in your iPhone's Keychain, on that device only and never in its backups.
Technical: basic request logs created when the app talks to our servers (such as IP address, device type and timestamps), used only for security, abuse prevention and troubleshooting, and kept for a short period. When you create an account, our infrastructure provider (Cloudflare) checks which country your connection comes from so we can enforce regional availability (legitimate interest); we receive and keep only the country result of that check, never your IP address.
Crash reports: if the app crashes or hits an error, a technical report (device model, iOS version, app version and what the app was doing at that moment) may be sent to our crash-reporting service (Sentry). It contains no name, email or account ID, no screenshots, and is not used for advertising.
Profile photo: you choose a photo with Apple's photo picker, so FAXX never gets access to your photo library, only to the one photo you pick. You crop it on your phone; only the cropped picture is uploaded.
On your phone only: to frame people's faces well in event pictures, FAXX uses Apple's on-device image analysis on those event pictures. This runs entirely on your phone; nothing is sent anywhere, and it is never used on your own photo or your camera.
We do not collect: precise location, contacts, your photo library, device files, or data from other apps. FAXX has no ads and no advertising or analytics trackers, we never sell or share your data for commercial purposes, and we do not use your data for advertising or for automated decisions that have legal effects on you.
FAXX is a social app. The following are visible to all users: your username, photo and country; your XP, Rating, level, rank, conviction balance and stats; your full call history (which question, which option, how much conviction) and your in-app conviction and XP history; who you follow and who follows you; recent visitors to a profile; and your appearance in "live votes" lists, top-player lists and leaderboards.
Your full name is never shown to other users, and nor is your email address, date of birth or email preference.
Your settings include a visibility switch that hides your calls from your profile when others look at it. Even with it on, your calls still appear in a question's "live votes" and top-player lists. If you prefer not to be identifiable, do not use your real name as your username or a recognisable photo.
Your account data is stored on Supabase, on servers in the European Union (Ireland).
FAXX relies on the providers below. Each handles the data it receives under its own privacy policy:
Supabase, Cloudflare, Resend, Sentry and DigitalOcean act as data processors on our behalf: they may only use your data to provide their service to us. Where a provider processes limited data outside the EU/EEA, it does so under EU-approved safeguards such as standard contractual clauses or an adequacy framework.
To show live prices, team logos and event pictures, the app requests data and pictures straight from the sources that publish them: Binance (live crypto prices), Wikimedia Commons and flagcdn.com (event and country pictures), ESPN and TheSportsDB (team and athlete logos, looked up by the team or athlete's name), and jsDelivr (cryptocurrency logos). We send them no account information and no identifier of any kind; like any website you visit, they see only that a device requested a file, including its IP address. They act as independent providers under their own privacy policies, not as our processors.
(a) Contract — running your account and the game; (b) consent — for optional items: a full name, a profile photo and marketing emails, each of which you can withdraw at any time by removing it or changing your choice; (c) legitimate interest — security, abuse prevention, game integrity and crash reports; (d) legal obligation — where we must keep or disclose data under applicable law.
Data is kept while your account exists. You can delete your account at any time inside the app (Settings → Delete account). Deletion permanently removes your profile, profile photo, calls, conviction and XP history, follows and notifications. Residual copies may remain in our routine encrypted backups for a short period (up to 30 days) before they are overwritten automatically. Purchases made in earlier versions of the app are kept only as a record of the product, amount and date, with your account identifier removed, because accounting and tax law require it; we may also keep minimal records where necessary to prevent abuse or to comply with the law.
Under the GDPR you have the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability and objection, and the right to withdraw consent at any time. Contact us at the email in section 10. You may also lodge a complaint with the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (www.dpa.gr) or with your local supervisory authority.
FAXX is for people aged 18 or older. We ask for your date of birth at sign-up and block anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors; if we become aware of such an account, we delete it.
If this policy changes in a way that matters, you will be told inside the app before the change takes effect.
